CELEBRITY CRICKET

When: Midday Sunday
Where: Big Top in the West Wing
Who: Australasia vs The International Artists
The Easterfest 08 Australasian team kept it together for the second year running in the annual Celebrity Cricket match in the Big Top. The International team will rely on their big name import players to mount a serious challenge in 2009. Previous years have seen Day of Fire, Superchick, Newsboys and Delirious all join the action. Even Rebecca St James has bowled a few overs.
Easterfest Celebrity Cricket ‘rules’ (subject to the infallible interpretation of the umpires) are as follows…
• Strictly 8 people per side, except when its not, like in 07 when it was 11 vs 12!
• Players bat in pairs for 2 overs & are penalised 5 runs for every lost wicket. Viewers may laugh at Americans who hold the cricket bat like a baseball bat but they won’t actually be penalised .
• Each player must bowl an over. Crowds and players alike may ridicule a “chucker” (but again, no actual penalty applies)
• A passionate plea from the Big Top’s video director after the 2007 game sees a new rule introduced. Batting or fielding players who hit video cameras on the full will be penalised 2 runs!
• Batters will be awarded 8 runs for hitting the roof of the Big Top tent. Management has approached the ICC to have this rule officially recognized, and no, this is NOT called a home run!
• Prizes are on offer for the first catch held by a crowd member in each innings.
To enter the Big Top for Celebrity Cricket you will need a 3-day or single day pass.
